[Cookie]
In the 16th century,"cookies"as known today in Japan were introduced as "namban-gashi" - translated as "southern barbarian sweets", which is a name that refers to the early Portuguese visitors. Since their introduction, cookies have been successful in Japan as they contain dessert like qualities of the Western culture. The reason for its success is due to the high quality flavour of wheat flour and vegetable used in the production of cookies – compared to Okaki and Senbei which are made from rice. Cookies made from high quality wheat and vegetable base nurture a good taste which is very familiar to the Japanese connoisseurs of cookies.
